Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, was restored worldwide early on Thursday, with more than 77,000 U.S. users facing problems at the height of the outage.
Users in Canada, Britain, France, and other countries have reported problems accessing X and X Pro, formerly known as TweetDeck.
More than 7,000 users in Canada and Britain have had problems with the platform, according to Downdetector.
Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources, including users.
The cause of the outage, which began shortly after 12:00 ET (05:00 GMT), is not yet known, and emails to X’s communications and support teams have been returned.
Users on X, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, experienced an inability to view posts and received a “Welcome to X!” message. X Pro users encountered a “Waiting for posts” message.
The social media platform has faced upheaval and uncertainty following Musk’s $44 billion acquisition, which led to layoffs, including many engineers responsible for fixing and preventing service outages, sources previously told.
Users took to Meta’s (NASDAQ) competitor Threads to discuss the outage, citing difficulties accessing posts, replies, and profiles on X.
